About Library of Science

The Library of Science is an Open Access platform that makes available metadata and full texts of articles published in Polish scientific journals and selected scientific books.

The platform allows to browse full-text resources originating from five thematic databases:

  • AGRO (journals on natural and agricultural sciences),
  • BazTech (journals in engineering and technology and exact sciences),
  • CEJSH (journals in humanities, social sciences, theology and arts),
  • DML-PL (journals in mathematics),
  • PSJD (journals in medical and health sciences).

The majority of scientific books available on the Platform were previously hosted on a separate “Open Book” site. Additional books are added to the Library of Science on a daily basis directly by the cooperating Publishers.

The Library of Science is available for free to anyone with a standard web browser and internet connection. The publications can be viewed and downloaded on your computer or mobile device without the necessity to log in on the Platform. Both articles and books are available in PDF format and formats such as EPUB, MOBI and XML are supported as well.

The presence of articles and books on the platform increases their visibility in online search engines, which allows a wide audience to find the publications, read them and subsequently cite them in their publications. Tools such as standard-compliant citation generator or exporting data to PBN (Polish Scientific Bibliography) are publicly available.

The Library of Science is operated by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling at the University of Warsaw where the Open Science Platform team is based.

The online service of the Library of Science has been developed in the project titled “Platform of Polish Scientific Publications”, co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund, 2nd priority axis of the Operational Program Digital Poland for 2014-2020, Measure 2.3. (total project value: PLN 5,164,777.78, co-financing from European Funds: PLN 4,370,951.43).
